CREATION OF UNIVERSE

The universe started with what most people believe to be the 'BIG BANG'. In this theory it is believed that the whole universe started off as a mere point object known as the 'SINGULARITY'. Singularity can be imagined as a condition in which all the mass is concentrated in a single point. Big bang is thought to be the starting of time. Though one cannot say whether time existed before the event but what happened before the big bang would have no effect on our present state. When the big bang occured the whole universe expanded into eternities of space, though there is nothing beyond the universe unless you believe in the hypothetical concept of 'SUPER UNIVERSE'(which we will be discussing in our next post). The universe expanded at a rate faster than the 'speed of light' which is why astronomers especially the radio astronomers are searching for radiations from the big bang coming from the far reaches of the universe. Thus we think of universe to be everything and the only thing. It is not inside anything and everything that exist is inside it. This might be confusing but it is true as far as most scientists are concerned. Astronomers had some progress when they detected the cosmic radiations from the edge of the universe which they believe the to have remained from the time of the big bang. One strong obserevation that suggests the possibility that the big bang actually occured is that the universe is expanding. Edwin Hubble while studying the distant stars and galaxies outside our milky way noticed that the they were moving away from us and at a rate proportional to their distance from us. He observed this no matter in which direction he looked thus he concluded that the universe is expanding. Thus it is natural to think that if something is expanding then it must have started of as a point. It is this point which scientists think exploded in a 'big bang' to the universe as we see today. Thus we conclude here by saying that there is strong evidence that the universe started off as a point that swelled into our present universe in what we call as a big bang.
