Poetry: "memories..."

I think that went well, the poem was well received without any critiques (I would have welcomed them though). So, I thought why not give it another try. Here Goes... ------------------------------------- memories... I felt your warmth, without your touch. (the fire from hearth, couldn't compare as much) I heard you sing, without your voice. (no rhythm could bring, me more rejoice) I felt you near, while you were here. (and it brings me tears, 'cause I miss you dear) So, in the end, I'd say it again. I'd wish to live, those memories again... ------------------------------------- Though, both of them encompass a different genre, still they are deeply related. Peace out \./

Poetry: "a lif3 of pain"

I've been writing monostich for a while with some positive feedback. So, this is a try at a short poem that I wrote today while I was feeling a bit down. ----------------------------- A lif3 of pain: I was distressed, I was stirred. To make it worse, (I was) kicked to the curb. Perturbed, disturbed, my existence absurd. (I) was left alone, unknown and hurt. ----------------------------- The strangely spelled "lif3" in the title, symbolizes the topsy-turvy events unfolding in my life. Not sure how it made me feel, but I seemed to have vented out some of the frustration. Peace out \./

Life of enigma

Evolution of computers has been more interesting and mysterious than the computers themselves. It is mind-boggling to see, how one of the most complex machines designed by man started on a simple concept of  binary . It is the basis of all complex Crypts and machine language. And best of all, it is not only confined to the artificial machines, but also naturally occurring machine, i.e. 'humans'. Sounds baloney? Actually it isn't (read through) I did some research on how we came by the concept of binary. It is simple enough, on and off , as in the electric current. And, using that simple technique, we devised one of the most easily adaptable way to communicate, telegraph. It uses morse code to transmit messages, where we have dashes and dots, i.e. concept of binary. It used to take a rather long time, to transmit even the simplest of messages. The problem here was, that we were supposed to translate, what machine could understand, i.e. we were communicating with the mach

Dawn of the light

Hmm, third time is the charm (let's hope so). After two horrible failures, this is the third time I'm going to try and write a thrilling fantasy novel. The concept is a bit derivative, but I think it has the potential to be something interesting. The title is supposedly going to be the first issue. As for the story, here goes ... --- "She was pacing along the harsh wet sand, following the eerie sound from her dream. The voice that had kept her awake for as long as she could remember. Passing through a narrow passage of dry land, she stopped in front of a giant red oak tree in search of that strange voice in her head.     The last day she remembered of peace was when she was working on her garden, ploughing up the black volcanic soil. When suddenly, her shovel hit something, making a loud thump. The contact triggered an explosion, and left her ears ringing and her vision dizzy. The impact of the explosion was too much for her fragile posture, and she fainted on the

Magical numbers: 7

Image
The number 7; it's everywhere in mythology and astrology. Even in nature, we see this number everywhere (much like the number 23). We have 7 seas (Arctic, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, North Pacific, South Pacific, Indian and Southern Oceans). We have 7 continents (Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Antarctica and Australia), though Oceania should be part of this list now. In Christianity, the number 7 is considered to be a Holy number, as the God rested on the 7th day and 777 is the antithesis of 666 (number of the devil). We have 7 sins and 7 virtues (those numbers differ in Dante's versions). Even in Ancient Egypt, 7 was considered as the God Number. The use of number 7 by common people was not encouraged. In music, we have 7 notes. There are 7 chakras in the basic model used in various eastern traditions and philosophies. In Islam, the number of layers of Earth, the number of heavens, the number of hells, they are all 7. The number of archa
