Life of enigma

Evolution of computers has been more interesting and mysterious than the computers themselves. It is mind-boggling to see, how one of the most complex machines designed by man started on a simple concept of binary. It is the basis of all complex Crypts and machine language. And best of all, it is not only confined to the artificial machines, but also naturally occurring machine, i.e. 'humans'. Sounds baloney? Actually it isn't (read through)

I did some research on how we came by the concept of binary. It is simple enough, on and off, as in the electric current. And, using that simple technique, we devised one of the most easily adaptable way to communicate, telegraph. It uses morse code to transmit messages, where we have dashes and dots, i.e. concept of binary. It used to take a rather long time, to transmit even the simplest of messages. The problem here was, that we were supposed to translate, what machine could understand, i.e. we were communicating with the machine directly in it's own language.

So what if, we create this concept of mapping alphabets with a simple pattern and use it as an adapter to communicate? There you go, that's how you speed up the process and also design a complex communication machine having simple enough usability (no need to understand complex crypts/codes). The morse code is a 1-D representation of data in dashes and dots, and therefore isn't as adaptable to translate complex languages with huge data-set (like Mandarin, which has about 2-3k characters).

Now, as I said earlier, that we could program the natural machines to understand the concept of binary. As an example, let's take the braille script for the blinds, it is a 2-D representation of binary dots (raised dots). It consists of 6 dots cell to represent various characters in raised dots format to represent ON. It's like living in a cryptic world, where understanding such complex representations becomes part of our lives.

It is quite incredible to see, how our mind can be programmed to understand such enigmatic patterns to fill the void left by nature.

Hope, this was interesting and educative. ( I've also been going through sign language tutorials, which can also be taught to your pets. So, that's my next little project, I'll teach it to my dog when I go home next, and will publish the results. )

Peace out \./
